Arts/Crafts Meetup Log #9

Arrived at the art meetup at 12 and stayed for the last hour. The recent meetups have been scheduled from 10am-1pm, which makes it hard for me to attend as a late waker (I missed last month's, in fact).

Attendees were just the Lodge Member (glassblowing etc.), Teacher Lady, Bookstore Employee, and Old Guy. Not many people for some reason. I didn't do so well at talking or showing interest in people but I just wasn't feeling it today (though, am I ever...?). Doesn't help that I've been dealing with an occasional cough for the past 3 weeks that only seems to be slowly getting worse. (I was wearing a mask as always, though.)

I know it's like practice for me to even show up to these things but I always do feel bad about not doing the small talk game well. My sister sometimes complains about having to be the person to do all the talking in groups sometimes and never getting asked questions back etc. so I do try to ask questions every now and then but I'm very bad at the self-sharing part and the not-letting-the-convo-die part. I think I'm much better 1-on-1. Whenever you add in like 3 more people it's like... well... that's too many people and opinions with varying levels of comfort to keep track of so im just gonna shut up lol (awkward)

The conversation went fine with Old Guy doing most of the talking, as he does. One hour isn't really enough to do much in art but I sketched a little avatar of mine in an Animal Crossing-like style and lined it (but didn't finish erasing or getting to the water brushing part). Bookstore Employee complimented me but I didn't know what to say in response to "Thanks for sharing that with me". ??? thanks for complimenting me....? thanks for your kind words.... <- weirdly formal. I didn't say anything and just nodded.

Oh well. No one will remember this in 5 years anyway.
