Never the information hoarder
i don't think I would call my interests "special" but it is funny being that type of person who doesn't hoard information about how things work behind the scenes and talking to the more info-based nerd. I primarily only engage with what I see in the final product and all the rest I know is osmosis because digging for that kind of information doesn't really interest me; similarly I don't really care for stuff like concept art unless what's in the concept is actually better than what we actually got.
me being the way I am, I can't actually name rabbit breeds despite rabbits having been my Thing since elementary school; in fact, as an elementary schooler I used to say that I preferred drawn bunnies over real bunnies. And it is actually still kind of true. The platonic ideal of a bunny has always been the most compelling thing to me rather than the real thing from which it draws its inspiration. This is the inverse of cats, where I feel that only about 5% of all fictional representation of cats in another medium have accurately captured the appeal of the cat. 95% of all fictional cats are pathetic things that hold no candle to the real life cat in my house, of which there are 3, and whom I love very dearly. Meanwhile, the bunny with the long ears and the relatively flat face standing on two legs, dot eyes, and round tail holds appeal that few real life bunnies instill in me. (I often fake it for other people's benefits.)
And what about sharks? Well I barely know facts about them, either. I simply see the shape with the fin in the back and go, "holy shit that's cute!" and I don't like the depictions of them as scary.
I don't even know or care to name shades of blue, it's either light, sky, dark, turquoise / bleen, navy, or "basically gray". what is "periwinkle". I don't care. it's not consistent anyway.
And yet when you say you're into something people expect you to come out with the facts. Listen: I am heavily prejudiced to aesthetics above all else (and secondly, craft of story). All of these things can be gathered, admired, judged, and ignored based on what is immediately there. The other details will come to me or they won't.
